Ten of the 13 chambers of commerce will be the first objective of the new strategy.
In October 2017 there were few business associations and professional associations that supported the declaration of independence. So that in a hypothetical future attack on the Spanish state the independence movement has a much broader support, the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) has been working with caution the last few months in the campaign "You vote, you count", through which the entity led by Elisenda Paluzie wants to "transform the unionist boards of the organisms or professional bodies" of Catalonia "in republican meetings".
According to an informative note addressed to the territorial assemblies, to which La Vanguardia has had access, "a large part of the professional organizations of Catalonia in the country are governed by unionist-conservative meetings". The ANC wants to revert it and now it tries that the maximum number of deaneries and university rectorates, directive organs of unions, institutes, sports federations, managerial structures and professional schools become "in tools for the country", are directed by personalities related to the independence movement and are ready to respond according to sovereign interests at the time of a hypothetical disconnection.
The civil entity aims to transform "unionist" boards into "republican" directives
Thus, the ANC considers that the aforementioned organizations, in which it intends to locate pro-independence candidates, make up the government substructure of Catalonia and that it is a "network that accumulates an important share of power".
The ANC wants to avoid more positions against independence. The first test of fire will be at the meetings of the 13 Catalan chambers of commerce, for which a few days ago the Generalitat called elections early May next year. The initiative was presented by the ANC on December 22 at the Fòrum de Barcelona. Until then, the national secretariat of the Assemblea had worked with great discretion, according to the text, "so that the candidacies that are already organized for the next elections in the chambers of commerce will not be alerted and the doors will be closed".
The elections to the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona will focus attention
According to the document, of the 13 chambers of commerce, the ANC is working on ten to select selected candidates for independence: those of Barcelona, Lleida, Tarragona, Sabadell, Terrassa, Tortosa, Manresa, Reus, Tàrrega and Valls. At the moment, the Palamós, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Girona are outside the objective of the ANC.
"One of the functions of the cameras is to organize companies and they can have a very important function when it is necessary for companies to change their country of paying taxes; they need to be ours, "says the text.
"We intend that the chambers of commerce of Catalonia work to defend the Catalan business world and not to defend interests that come from Madrid," the promoters add, while affirming that they want "when there is a new declaration from the Catalan republic, or a new flight of companies, the representatives of the cameras use their loudspeaker to support the Government and explain to the public the truth about the companies and the country. "
Today, the ANC has already organized a call center with volunteers who will be in charge of locating entrepreneurs, freelancers and cooperativists among the members of the Assemblea to ask them to vote in favor of the candidates to whom the ANC supports to direct the different Chambers of Commerce. It must be borne in mind that five members of the secretariat of the Assemblea, as entrepreneurs, are responsible for some of these candidatures.
This initiative will be completed by a web page where the names of the applicants will be published. In addition, the civil entity will promote them through social networks.
The elections to the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona will focus attention. Up to four people aspire to preside over it: the president of Numintec, José María Torres, the lawyer Ramon Masià, the president of Banco Mediolanum, Carles Tusquets, and the former Damm executive, Enric Crous.
