The Catalan funds of savers grew by 2,273 million in the third quarter.
Catalonia is recovering little by little from the tremendous flight of bank deposits that led to the independence threat with the referendum of October 1, 2017.
In the third quarter of this year, the region recovered another 2,273 million euros, along with the 8,000 million that returned in the second quarter, totaling 10,302 million in six months, according to the latest data from the Bank of Spain. A hopeful figure but only accounts for one third of the 32,600 million that escaped from Catalonia between the third quarter of 2017 and the first of 2018.
From June to September and for the second consecutive quarter, the Catalan banking offices recovered funds in checking and savings accounts after the disbanding by the savers' alarm due to the escalation of the secessionist pulse after 1-O.
The total number of deposits in Catalonia stood at the end of last September at 162,471 million euros, 2,273 million more than at the end of June. This rebound of 1.41% allowed the autonomous community of Catalonia to continue recovering some weight with respect to the national total, going from 12.97% to 13.26%. Despite this, it is far from its historical figures, since in 2010 it represented 16.86% of the national total.
