The miseries of the procés

The miseries of the procés
I am awaiting amb candeletes(impatiently) the live and direct telecast of the trial of the defendants in the case of the procés
Exactly like in the American TV-channels specialising in judicial cases.
Or even like that of O.J. Simpson, the star of the American football, which caused the audiences’ delight.
It might be a reality show.
Up until now, it seems there are three different strategies of defence:
- First, those who are ready to sacrifice themselves and frame a political defence: Rull, Turull, Romeva, the Jordis.
I suppose we should include here the case of Oriol Junqueras, even though we never know for sure whether he does come or go.
If I were him, I would start spilling out against Carles Puigdemont. Someone else should be blamed. Or at least just sharing responsibilities.
- Second, those who told, openly or just hinting at, they would be trying a pure legal defence.
Of course, the really important is just to come off not so badly: Dolors Bassa and Meritxell Borràs. Perhaps also Joaquim Forn.
- And third, those who want to keep to a low profile: Carles Mundó, Santi Vila.
Carme Forcadell is not much heard as well.
In my opinion, all this couldn’t be but an ”¡Everyman for himself!”.
The attorney of Carme Forcadell, for example, already admitted last Saturday that might be "differences" among the defendants. They are far too many.
It is quite clear that it is not the same thing to be councillor with office, official vehicle and bodyguard than to be sitting in the dock as a defendant.
And the truth is that there was no need whatsoever of proclaiming any kind of republic just to end up accepting the jurisdiction of the Spanish judiciary branch.
¡How many annoyances would have we spared ourselves!.
Ken Loach has a very good film about the independence of Ireland ("The Wind that Shakes the Barley" in its translation into Spanish) in which he shows that the first thing the Irish did was create their own courts.

It is not the case, of course. Here some went to declare as lambs to the Supreme Court. And the others came buzzing for Brussels.

Companys, after October 6, at least stayed in Palau.

The fucked upis that in the end who managed to disrupt the process was not the CNI or Soraya or the Aranzadi Brigade but a simple magistrate of the Supreme Court, Pablo Llarena. Although, yes, it counted on the inestimable collaboration of the Civil Guard. Just pulling the thread was enough.

Their own mistakes added more than the successes of the contrary.

When I remember those blind days the secretary of Lluís Salvadó always comes to my mind throwing the papers out the window following the precise instructions of his boss.

Or Josep Maria Jové pointing even the last detail in her Moleskine agenda to be able to write the book of her life in the future.

Like Nixon, who recorded everything. That’s how he finished.

And I save other details - like the fat tits-, because they are not incumbent on the Supreme Court.

I fear that the trial will cause an effect contrary to that desired by the independence movement: it will not be a showcase.

Rather it will leave on the air not only the miseries of the process but the level of our ruling class because, like it or not, they were the ones in charge of the Catalan government.

All this while the rest will give encouragement from Brussels.

I imagine Puigdemont telling Junqueras: "Oriol, be strong".

The same who, after the big bet told his advisers: "tomorrow, everyone to the office."

How easy it is to be brave when you are not in court.

And, by the way, the trial of Trapero in the National High Court is pending.

This has been sunk by the race. Although he also let himself be loved.

The mayor of the Mossos has not admitted shady deals. He did not even accept to be a deputy of JxCat.

What if he would eventually speak…
