The Catalan business community applauds the restart of relations after the conflict

Foment (businessmen forum) achieves a still precarious balance between the Government of Sanchez and the Catalan Executive, with the will to buy time

Good words. Anything else? The Catalan business community applauded this Thursday at the Foment del Treball ceremony the restarting of relations that has begun to occur between the Government of Pedro Sanchez and the Catalan Executive, with risks for both parties, but forced both to buy time, to gain space of trust, with many doses of dialogue, although they can not bear fruit yet. T

The president of Foment, Josep Sánchez Llibre, had at his side President Quim Torra, and President Pedro Sánchez. This image was produced, but a complicity was also reached that could be decisive: that of the Catalan vice-president, Pere Aragonès, with Sánchez and with Sánchez Llibre himself.

There were long parliaments. All focused on maintaining the dialogue, with "the lights on" as the presenter of the act, Susanna Griso, asked them. They talked about economic growth and the need to approve budgets, and sought bases of understanding "within the law, and with moderation." Was there anyone upset?

Torra, uncomfortable and isolated

President Torra was the most uncomfortable. Torra is an activist, and had set the calendar on December 20. On the night of this Thursday he planned a reading of the letters of exile, in 1939, together with the Minister of Culture, Laura Borràs, at the Petit Palau. And, after his speech, and without remaining at the delivery of the Foment awards, the Ferrer Salat awards, he left the huge room of the Sofia hotel where the event was held. He previously verified his position. He spoke of "defranking" the Spanish State, and of the "political prisoners", and of the need for a political solution, which for him only goes through a referendum of self-determination. The businessmen whistled shyly, and there were thick words later, among the guests.

But things have changed.

Catalan businessmen has begun to see that Torra is isolated in his government, that Vice President Aragonès has a fluid dialogue with Foment, and that, this Thursday the PDeCAT and ERC voted in favor of the ceiling of expenditure of the budgets of the Government of Pedro Sánchez. The Spanish leader recalled the fact, and insisted that these accounts can be important to rethink the political and economic future in Spain.
