A professor of the UPV after the beating of a constitutionalist student: "Not surprising, the rector does nothing"

"The current rector and the previous opted for contemplation. They see what happens, they feel it a lot and they do not do anything. I am not surprised that they beat up a student because the rector has not taken any proactive measures to end the escalation of violence suffered by the Álava campus. "

Who says this is a professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of the Basque Country (UPV), news in the last hours for the brutal beating received by one of his students at the hands of a group of hooded. The assailants beat him and sent him to the hospital because he promoted the constitution of a Student Association in Defense of Spain (AEDE). It was promoting, because the violent aggression has deflated the spirits of those who wanted to attend a meeting, perhaps constituent. Fear has made them stop trying and avoid the media.

Who denounces the situation of the campus of Alava, in conversation with EL ESPAÑOL, is not a teacher anymore. This is Txema Portillo, holder of the subject of Contemporary History, with a long known public past, indissociably linked to the violence that has plagued the Basque Country during the last four decades. Threatened and harassed by ETA, and the victim of two attacks, he had to go into exile in the year 2000 and was not able to return until 2013, when the terrorist band was already on the straight line of his disappearance.
