The distrust of judges in Catalonia. Luis Rodríguez Vega, magistrate, Professional Association of the Magistracy. Catalonia Section.

They despise us and identify us as the enemy to be expelled from their territory.

Undoubtedly, in a constitutional democracy, criticism of judicial decisions is absolutely necessary. Our independence is directly proportional to the right of citizens to criticize a sentence, however, it should also be remembered that one of the limits of freedom of expression outlined in the European Convention on Human Rights is "to guarantee the authority and impartiality of the power of attorney". Criticism, as I said, has been unfair because it is disproportionate, because it is interested and because of the institutional position of its authors. But those responsible have not limited themselves to criticizing our resolutions, but have instigated the delegitimization and harassment of the Courts. In this respect there are many examples that could be put, but it is enough to mention three very expressive ones.
