Social protests overflow Torra after six years of 'procés'

The Mossos protect the entrance to the Parliament.

The Government of Quim Torra faces today the fourth day of labor and social protests that call for reversing the cuts dragged since 2011. Teachers and officials join the strike that since Monday doctors and yesterday also mobilized students and firemen, even to the doors of the Parliament. It is about claims that have had the mute of the procés. Torra, who had no public agenda yesterday, kept silent. The vicepresident Pere Aragonès made possible improvements to a new Budget, which begins to negotiate today with the commons. At the doors of the Parliament, the Mossos d'Esquadra avoided yesterday that doctors and firefighters entered the interior of the Catalan Chamber.

At the door there were moments of tension between agents of the Catalan police and firemen. Not even those images motivated a reaction on the part of the Catalan Executive. Torra had no scheduled public event. In the afternoon it transpired that he had had a long meeting with the exlehendakari Juan José Ibarretxe, whom Torra defined on social networks as "a great friend of Catalonia." Torra, explained from his cabinet, closely follows the development of negotiations with doctors.
