The radical independentist movement assumes 21-D as a "failure"

"I do not know, but the slogan was 'Let's stop the Council.' And we have not stopped it or blocked it, it's an epic failure, and we've given images of violence.

The day of protests this 21st of December in Catalonia made two things very clear: first, that the independence movement has lost some steam. In a way, you could not wait much longer than a day on a weekday (only had called a general strike of 2 hours, from 12.30 to 14.30). The independentists did enough to get thousands of protesters into the street from the black dawn until sunset. The other lesson of the day is that, after the day, it became clear that the independence movement is divided. There are two independentists souls  that hold very distant positions. They are irreconcilable and even antagonistic positions.

"I do not know, but the slogan was 'Let's stop the Council.' And we have neither stopped nor blocked them, it is an epic failure, and we have given images of violence, they have won," said a well-known activist from one of the more known pro-independence platforms. Before this, the administrator of the chat recriminated: "It is about mounting chaos, not that there are arrested by balls, it is easy to speak from a comfortable point, but not so much when you face, with the facts, criminal penalties."

But disappointment was the dominant tonic late in the morning. "This has been a failure", one of the activists in the Gran Aturada de País (Great Country Strike) platform complained. "Total failure", answered another. "It's not true, only more people are missing," another colleague added. After 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the feeling had not improved: "Friends: today (Friday), failure", was the laconic comment of another experienced activist of the platform. One of his colleagues supported him: "It's a failure, one more performance, and we will continue to fail while Òmnium and ANC continue throwing shit and the 'lyricists' continue thinking that a revolution is like a party of the Súpers [the TV3 party for the children]".

In the independentists forums the discomfort of disorganization was palpable. There were even words of reproach for the Rapid Action Autonomous Groups (GAAR), created recently as a front-line collision force. It turns out that the GAARs were aligned at the last minute with the ANC and Òmnium entities. And the most radicals are not deprived of anything: "We have already seen the 'success' of the call of ANC and Òmnium, these two entities are not going at the same time, like the parties: only to see who has the convening power and what are we waiting for, nothing, we do not expect to do anything, true struggle, none, "complained one activist.

An unreachable goal

"But how many people have participated," said an experienced activist at the end of the morning, "Four cats?" The problem that Catalans have is that we sin of realism, we speak more from will and desire than from realism. And poor of him who wants to be prudent and give more realism, I trust our people, our citizenship, but we still have a couple of lessons to learn to know how to make a real revolt. "
