Sanchez and Torra meet on Thursday with the will not to burn bridges

Pedro Sánchez and Quim Torra will sit on Thursday at the Palau de Pedralbes, in Barcelona, with the conviction that, beyond the epic of the speeches, neither of them is interested in breaking the fragile bridges of dialogue that were extended with the sudden arrival of the socialist leader in the Moncloa in June.

With all the caution, the will goes through both concrete policies that help to relax the crisis and address some political positions that keep the legislature in suspense, while the right threatens to add more than the progressive bloc.

The expectations are discreet, but both parties agree that the appointment can not become a disaster that demonstrates the failure of the policy and the burning of the street.

When Sanchez and Torra meet at six o'clock in the afternoon, in a second room of the same building, a second meeting imposed by the Govern to which the Moncloa has ended up agreeing despite their initial refusal, a sort of "mini-grudge" between the two governments.

On the executive side will be the vice president, Carmen Calvo, and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Meritxell Batet. Representing the Government will be the 'vicepresident', Pere Aragonès; the spokesperson, Elsa Artadi, and the 'consellera' of Justícia, Ester Capella. At the end, Sanchez, the Minister of Economy, Nadia Calviño, and Labor, Magdalena Valerio, will attend the Foment dinner, the most significant event for Catalan businessmen, to whom the Executive wants to convey a message of confidence and stability.

A slit

Both delegations admit that if there are no serious altercations in the streets and the meetings end with an open door to new encounters, a narrow slit opens to continue advancing.

The situation has deteriorated in recent months after the announcement of Torra in October to break all relations with Sanchez and that the Government sent last week to the Government three letters threatening to intervene the Mossos d'Esquadra if public order was not guaranteed in Catalonia.

If the meetings go well, it opens the possibility of working to recover the spirit of the motion of censorship, something that in June seemed an evidence and that the climate of tension of the last months has turned into a conquest.
