A well-known draftsman explained to the people of Spain the social cutbacks during the crisis in this way: "They pulled down the shutters and told us it was night time”. However, a portion of the population became aware and went out angry into the streets: that was the 15M, a movement forged in Madrid and expanded to the rest of Spain. In Barcelona, they were cleared by the autonomous police (mossos) through incidents very similar to the scenes the national police was involved in on the 1^stof October 2017. A distinguished member of ERC – centre-left nationalist party – summed up his position as follows: “Let them go to piss in Spain”...
